Is is possible in Solidworks 2001 to generate a surface or solid that describes the swept volume of a given part in a linkage? For example, in an automotive suspension, generate the swept volume of the wheel as the suspension is cycled through its entire range AND the steering is turned from lock to lock. I know Pro/E can do this, but how about Solidworks?

I'm afraid that Solidowrks does not yet have this capability "directly" Im sure that if you were greative enough, and new the mathmatics on how to describe the movement, and the rules that govern its motion that you can simulate the results... I have done this with a fully parametric wheel envelope, to simulate lock to lock movement, with the only exception being that I did not account for Jounce, and droop movements... Regards,
