I downloaded a file from SKF to insert in one of my assemblies and when I recieved it it came as a .SWB file. How do I get this to open in Solidworks 2009 so that I can put it into my assembly?

Thanks

From within SolidWorks, tools>macro>run and browse for the .swb file. It will generate the model right before your eyes. Kinda slick way for vendors to store files for their customers. Much smaller than an actual model and it will generate a feature tree regardless of the version of SolidWorks. The only drawback is that if you do a replace function in an assembly (change to larger or smaller size) the mates will get screwed up because SW doesn't recognize the faces being the same (or generated from the same base model).

You can also drag-n-drop the .swb file into SW from Windows Explorer. I think you have to drop it into an "empty" area, as in, not into a part/assembly/drawing window.

handleman,

you are correct, it does have to be in open space to work. Typical best practice is to minimize all documents you are working on and drop it straight onto the SW logo (easy target).
