swaging

Hi
I would like to swage a 3mm diameter high carbon steel ( piano wire) into a 1.8mm swaged wired.
The wire is about 8'' long and is cilindrical.
any tips on machinery or how to do it at home?

I tried butt welding in the past for this application. It worked for me. Look in Thomas Registry for electric wire butt welders. Good Luck.
