Folks,

I was under the impression that Swagelok fittings were the same as VCR fittings -- however, I have been told otherwise. Are these one in the same? If they are different, what makes them so....?

Swagelok at the manufacturers company name. VCR is a trademark of the Swagelok Company.

Yeah. Swagelok's VCR is the fitting with removable metal sealing element. It's for mechanical seals in gas lines. Swagelok, as I used it, was a name for their particular type of compression fittings versus standard pipe compression fittings.

Understand "SWAGELOK" has several types of fittings.
VCR is only one of those few. Go to their site and find out all there is to know about proper tube fittings for various conditions.
go to: and see what they have, you may not need the VCR type fitting.

Best regards
