I'd like to replace the model that the drawing is referencing with another model. I'm new to SW2007, but I used SW2001 in the past and in that case, I would go to explorer, open up the drawing, right click on the model it's referencing and select replace. Then I could browse to the new model.

It looks like I can do something similar in 2007 using SWexplorer but it wont change the referenced model.

Hi
if u want to change exist intire part with the same name in other place(Assem) it dost work bcos u must changs the new part name, but if u want to use this part with a bit canges in its, u must define a configurations for surce part in this way if u import this part to yr assembly SW ask u to using wich configuration that u want to use. any way u can simply eplace ur parts from file menu too, but make attention to thair name, if u decide to save all sub assemblies with different name and property to usine in other or in same assemble go to File>Pack & Go then use pre or sufix in ur parts name with this method u can use any assemblies in anyware u want also it gather all assem efrences in new folder that u make so this is helpfull when u want to find acctual parts that u use in ur assemble.
other way is enable to using in sketch refrencess to fix the same problems, Nottify me if u want to learn.

1) Restart SW to ensure no files are open in memory.

2) File > Open.

3) Single click to highlight, but do not open, the SLDDRW file.

4) Select the References option.

5) Double click the referenced item you want to change.

6) Select and accept the replacement part.

7) The In Folder column (maybe named differently in 2007) should now list the new part.

8) Repeat 4 and 5 as required.

9) Open the drawing and save.
