Thanks, but I think I'll wait a while.

How stable were the beta and pre releases?

The PR2 that I am still using is very stable... I have not crashed one time using it... my system is old and is slower then it is with SW07... but that was to be expected.

I can't seem to find the area of the SolidWorks website that allows you to request upgrade licenses for 2008. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

rjason71 ... Do you mean the Download Centre in the Customer Portal where you can download the latest version or patch? If you are not on subscription, you will need to contact your VAR to purchase a 2008 license.

[cheers]

I can get to the Download area to DL SW2008 in the SolidWorks Customer Portal but I can't find the licensing area. We are on support.

You have to log in using a Username and password... then you will get the option to select "register my products" that's how you get your license file.

If you mean the Product Activation, that happens during installation.

[cheers]

OK. I found register my products but it only allows up to 2007 as an option.

Was you current version not registered? If it was registered you will be given the new one (if req'd) also during installation.

[cheers]

This is a network license BTW.

i saw a introduction of 2008
was very disappointed
they could not get cosmosflow to work
and the fea calc was also disappointing

I found a link to get a temporary 2008 license file when I clicked on the SW2008 download link, like I was going to start downloading the software. I found the following item:

SNL users must click here to get a temporary SNL license before installing SolidWorks 2008 with Network Licensing

I saw the intro too, but actually I was kind of impressed with how many bugs they had fixed since the last beta's, especially since they didn't remove a dozen of new functions to get back on track.

Seems like they introduced a lof of new concepts in 2008, some still a little rough around the edges, but I suppose they will improve on that with the SPs.
