I have never heard these terms used in reference to motors. Can anybody shed some light on this for me. Thanks

Oct 15, 2003 #2 edison123 Electrical Joined Oct 23, 2002 Messages 4,517 Location IN Yooper, In vertical hydro generators, Suspended type - Thrust bearing on top (i.e. above generator rotor). Umbrella type - Thrust bearing on bottom (i.e. below generator rotor). May be in vertical motors, the same definitions will apply. Upvote 0 Downvote
