Designing an atmospheric leach tank to react a slurry with conc sulfuric acid.

Expect to have significant amounts of CO2 evolved and foaming so need to account for the superficial gas velocity in selecting the tank diameter.

General rule of thumb in this office is 0.035 m/s, based on Am3/h of off gas per X sect area of the tank.

Any alternate views?
Should the velocity be determined by the disengagment requirements above the tank, froth stability or factors within the slurry?

Planning on kicking this one around with the agitator supplier too.

Cheers.
