I am a newbie in materials selection for petroleum production related project. I am having problems in selecting materials when the environment is highly conducive to pitting. Should I go for Duplex/Super Duplex/Alloy 625 or Alloy 825.

We will encounter very high CO2 and Cl-. Also, the operating temperature is around 90 C.

Hello Jbeckhou,

I appreciate your help. However, I am looking for "Performance" of the following steels in a specific environment (10 % CO2 (mol. fraction, 8000 mg/l Cl- ions and roughly 13000 MPa pressure):
1. Duplex Steels, 2. Super Duplex, 3. Alloy 625 and 4. Alloy 825.
I need to know the performance of the above steels when pitting and crevice corrosion are potential issues.

Best regards,
Samay
