Dear all,
we are designing a small unit where we should vaporizein continuous a small amount of molten sulfur.

We have some concern due to the viscosity change of molten S (increase then decrease) so do you have any suggestion on the typeof "boiler" to be designed? We will appreciate any typeof suggestion.

thanks
Francesco

The unusual cyclooctasulfur S8 liquid viscosity rises with temperature by ring cleavage and formation of catenasulfur species above about 160oC and reaches a maximum somewhere about 200oC and thereafter falls on heating until at the b.p. of 444.6oC becomes again a mobile dark red liquid.

Thanks,
I was in fact thinkinhg if it can be better to flow the molten sulfur inside a tube heat exchanger in a gas fired chamber or if it was better to keep sulfur in a "kettle" type boiler with gas firing inside the tubes submerged...

any idea or suggestion?

Dogtop, we would like to test some reaction with LPG to make a stream of H2S at various concentration

Have you considered spraying the molten sulphur into a stream of LPG? I do not know about the by-products, though.
