Stud wall overhaning slab edge

I have a perimeter 2x6 stud wall, 1200 plf with the slab edge turned down 9" bearing on a grade beam. The architect wants 2" of insulation against the slab edge, and wants me to pull the slab edge in 1.5" causing the bottom plate to overhang the slab edge 1.5" so the insulation and wall sheathing are flush which creates the desired clear distance between the brick veneer and insulation/wall sheathing.

I know the grade beam could be widen to get the clear distance, but ignoring the obvious responses is this a typical, detail are there any pitfalls besides checking bearing and bending of the bottom plate?

This puts eccentricity in your studs and cross grain bending in your sole plate.

I had not considered stud eccentricity.

Stud eccentricity would be my only concern, and it shouldn't be much of a problem. The axial load times the small eccentricity will be a small moment compared to the moment due to wind load.

If your concerned, bolt an angle to the slab edge to support the bottom plate.

Make sure there is plenty of clearance to the ground and that the bottom edge has some supplementary waterproofing. As noted, it is a termite issue and also an exposure issue for the wood.

Structural issue for a 2x6 is less pronounced than for 2x4 stud wall. Watch edge distance on anchorage though. Remember...the guys on the topside drilling anchor holes will shoot for the center of the plate. If flush with the slab, the edge distance would be about 2-1/2 inches. As you've been directed to design, the edge distance could be reduced to less than 2 inches.
