Strut and Tie Model (ACI SP-008)

I am studying strut and tie model of ACI SP-008 and facing with the question why alpha angle of the model in the example of such ACI is 26.6 degree? It should be equal to 90-54.32 = 35.68 degree instead!

Who can understand this issue, please kindly comment here.

The difference between 26.6 and 35.6 is the angle between Z and Z'. The strut axis isn't actually perpendicular to the node face.



I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
