In Russia we have centralised gas supply system mainly for cooking stoves. Millions of people live in multiappartment buildings. Usually it's 3 - 5 accidents a year
Sometimes it leads to collapse due malfunctioning stoves
Sometimes it is not

I have seen some of those gas stoves mainly in the baltic states.

I have also replaced loads of regulators on them for relatives which only costs 10 euro each.

to be fair in the UK they have a similar number of explosions due to gas ovens every year and the gas system has been regulated to death for years with the CORGI setup.

When I built my place I went electric only even the folk with red gas bottles for cooking have the occasional bang...

To be honest and no diss respect to Leenur or any other Russian citizen ( half my wifes family have Russian passports and my kid could have one if he wanted through his Grandmother)

Only God will help these people.

When things happen in those soviet worker apartment blocks they basically just throw everyone out on the street disconnect the power and water and then leave them to rot. If they are lucky they will pull them down if structurally dangerous, removal of the resulting rubble may or may not happen depending on the city and if its an embarrassment or not.

The old ovens don't have a safety gas cut off so if its on and the flame goes out the gas keeps on flowing.

And the electrics in these places its not uncommon for sparking when switches are actuated.
