That depends on if you can get all the information you require from a 2d model. Then 2d is probably quicker. Otherwise, to add the third dimension "by hand" might take some time.
Why not model it in a 3d capable software and see if you feel comfortable with the results or not.
It is only a simple frame analysis with one primary truss and two secondary trussess joining at the third point of the primary one all carying a tile roof load now they are proposing to add a layer of solar panels. Detailing of steel to allow for the variation in depth longitudinally. Please comment.
