Hi,

I want to calculate the stresses generated at the Bolt connections (between the flanges of the valve and the pipe) due the working pressure of the fluid in a valve.

Is there a way by which we can avoid creating the flange of the pipeline and create a virtual wall to constrain the bolts?

or what is the best way to carry out an analysis for this situation.

Thnx!

I'm using Nastran with NX8.5

by hand ?

if you want to model the joint, then you'll need to model the flanges. how can you model the joint stiffness if you don't model the flanges ? (to paraphrase Dire Straits)
