Stress relief cone

Does anyone have a link or any info on how to properly construct stress cones? I've searched high and low, but have not been able to find anything.

I'm looking for some instructions on how to construct a hand taped stress cone for a motor termination. I have all the required tapes, and braid, just need a little guidance on how to construct a stress cone. We have a few MV motors that are changed out every 2 yrs, and the ends of the leads are starting to look suspect. There is currently no form of stress control, and they have been in operation for over 50 yrs. The shield grounds are pretty beat up, and I would like to redo the leads the next time I change one of these motors.

'droid, I think you’ll find that—over the last ~20 years—from a skill point of view, kits for shielded-MV cable have well outpaced “built-up” terminations and splices. A degree of art and science is required for reliable installations regardless of the method of construction; although kits add a degree of consistency that is rarely found with all but the best of splicers.
