I think my machine is haunted......

Issue #1:
I am working on an assembly model that consists of a sub-assy and some miscellaneous component parts as well. The sub-assy is a steel tank that consists of 6 pieces of steel parts to crate the assy. As I make changes in the top level assy like mating parts, different pieces of steel that make the tank are turning semi-transparant. If I open the tank assembly they appear to be fine and are at a transparancy level of 0.0. I have done all the normal things like refreshing, shut down and reboot, etc., but I can not get the parts to be non-transparant.

Issue #2:
In the system options, External References, the option for "opening referenced files as read only" is checked. I uncheck it and reboot SW and it is checked again.

Issue #3:
In the system options, External References, the option for "Don't prompt to save read-only referenced documents is checked, and it still prompts me to save.

One of those days where even four letter words don't seem to help.

I would include a picture but when I do a print screen and try to paste it into PAINT (like I always do), now I get an error that says "Trouble getting clipboard data).*($@!

Did you check your video card driver? Doesn't seem like a SolidWorks issue ... or maybe.

Have you recently changed any settings, drivers, SP?

If this has just started happening, try SBaughs "Alternative to try before reinstalling" faq559-507.

[cheers]

Having changes to standard options not maintained between SolidWorks sessions may be caused by the user not having sufficient privileges within Windows to make registry changes.

I am having the same random transparency problem and it seems linked to hiding and showing various components. Hide and show seems to be messing up other things as well.

Theophilus - Yes, using the "Change Transparancy" button fixes the issue. For some reason this button is beign activated without user input.

kellnerp - I bet this will work for you as well. Same issue with mine, only seemed to happen when hiding and showing components.

Thanks much
