Hi everyone,

I'm doing my thesis and need to model an orthotropic material in strand7. Does anyone know if I can use Tsai-hill or Tsai-wu failure criteria on a 2d plate analysis? The help menu says it can be used on laminate however I don't have the laminate data to model this. I wish to use 2d plate or go with a brick but for some reason Tsai-wu can not be selected...(or I just don't know how!)

thanks all!

Why do you want to use those criteria? They do not correlate to laminate test data.

I thought the Tsai-hill and Tsai-wu are the recommended failure criteria for orthotropic materials? Am I wrong?

Recommended by those who have never tried to correlate to test data. See numerous posts on this subject in the composite materials forum.
