Strain Gauges on Bolts 1

How do you attach a strain guage to measure the tension in a bolt thats part of a bolted connection? Photos would also be great!!

Look on this page for the link Force Sensing Bolt/Stud General Specification Wiring Diagrams - it has a nice image of the product.

Alternatively, you can use standard thin film gages, like those from Vishay:


You then need to drill a hole from the head to the shank. I have seen nice diagonal holes that don't require any changes to the joint configuration.
