Team,

I have a two different standerd for the strightness of bar in front of me.

Material : Brass 385
Length :3.6meter (12 ft.)
Outside diamter:56.5mm

Raw material Supplier specefication
Straightness tolerances (Ref Table 8.1:AS1567) for the specified external dimensions over 40mm up to and including 70mm straightness Tolerances (max.) in total lenght is 3.0xlength (m).
So in my case 3.0 x 3.6meter = 10.8mm.

Barfeeder supplier:
For optimum results, the bar stock must be straight. Should the bar stock exceed 0.5mm/m straightness.

Our experience says that Barfeeder supplier is right, exceeding then this cause jamming of bar.

Is any one have any clue what we is the resonable demad of strighness we have to ask from supplier.

Thanks,
R. Modi

How about the reasonable demand of straightness that it feeds through your bar feeder without getting stuck? Surely the bar feeder manufacturer did not make a product that won't accept bars that comply to some industry straightness standard.... But you never know.

Maybe you need to conference call with the feeder manufacturer and the material supplier together. Then you can listen to them blame each other until your ear is numb.

Good luck and remember that there are an awful lot of material suppliers out there. Make sure that your material supplier knows you know that.
