I wonder if any one can help me. I am a mechanical projects engineer with a linear motor manufacturing company.
I have been given the task of documenting the straightnes and flatness of our linear motor range using a laser interferometer.
Could any one tell me the best way of documenting a flatness and straightness value which can be repeatable and quoted to customers.
At the moment I propose to take straightness values of a number of linear motors with different system lengths and document this. However since I am looking for a single vaue to quote for such machines e.g XXmicro/m
I am bit concerned that for smaller lengths of systems not up to a metre am I introducing a factored error when I rounded it up to a metre.
Does anyone have a better idea of doing this.
