Hi,
I wanted to challenge here my understanding of the regulation, so herebelow the case:
  • A manufacturer has designed and built a water tubes boiler in accordance with EN 12 952-7.
  • This boiler has been erected and commissioned in the UK by the manufacturer, still under EN 12 952-7.
  • All conformity checks having been met, the OWNER has taken over the boiler.
  • The OWNER is the USER and as such, operates and maintain the equipment under PSSR.
Now comes the time when the OWNER is considering a significant modification to this boiler. PSSR says:
13. The employer of a person who modifies or repairs a pressure system at work shall ensure that
nothing about the way in which it is modified or repaired gives rise to danger or otherwise impairs
the operation of any protective device or inspection facility.
So, as long as the modification is performed in accordance with the requirement of PSSR and to the satisfaction of the Competent Person, there is nothing that requires the modification to be conducted in accordance with the original standard (EN 12 952), correct ?

Thank you !
