hi all,
To model the stirrups in beam, what procedure should I follow?
If I am making 2D beam, then i make stirrup as a vertical line element
If I am making 3D beam, then I make stirrups with line element as 3D box
Is this approach correct?
What about reinforcement grid?
I am using Midas FX+ and TNO Diana

Thanks for the help
Please anyone share the tutorial for stirrups if they have. or any manual calculation of beam with stirrups so I can verify the results

Thank you

The first question is, why do you want to model the stirrups. If you are doing a design analysis then just model the beam as a line element, then design the reinforcement for the resulting moments and forces.

If you are researching the behaviour or reinforced concrete beams then it may be appropriate to model the reinforcement, but you will need a much more detailed model than you would use for a design analysis, and modelling the reinforcement will be the least of your problems. To get a reasonably realistic estimate of the stresses in shear reinforcement you will need a good model for concrete behaviour before and immediately after cracking, and that is far from simple.

I am researching the behaviour of RC beams. I will look through the models for concrete behavior before and immediately after cracking.
Thank you
