hi

Pinched cylinder problem is a benchmark problem (as shown in attached file), I want to solve it by MITC4+ element which is 4node element and has 5-Dofs per node
to calculate the total stiffness matrix, should i compute the stiffness matrix of each element in local coordinate next transform to global coordinate then assemble it to total stiffness matrix?

It seems that your question is more about MITC4 shell element. The assembly matrix should be built on global coordinates, you could build elemental matrix on either local or global, do not matter, as long as you have a correct assembly matrix on global. I would prefer to build elemental matrix on global as well.
