Hello,

I know that each opening has its limits of reinforcement and the same area can't be used for two openings, causing interference. In software such as PV Elite we have to shorten the area of influence.
But between an opening and a stiffener ring I don't know how to proceed. In PV Elite I've no error message when I have a nozzle close to a stiffener ring. The shell contributing to the moment of inertia of the combined section shall be maximum 1.1*(D*t)^0.5, and can't be reduced in PV Elite.

So my question is: Can the same shell section contribute to a stiffening ring and opening reinforcement? If not, how can I reduce the influence/area contributing of a stiffening ring in PV Elite ?

Many thanks

FL

Franck L, in my opinion the same area cannot contribute to both nozzle reinforcement and moment of inertia of a stiffening ring. I doubt you can restrict the contributing width of shell in PVE the way you can restrict limits of opening reinforcement. How to proceed?

1) Move stuff around.
2) Further restrict opening limits of reinforcement and deal with that.
3) Perform a hand (or other) calculation for the stiffening ring MOI, using the actual available shell width, and then deal with that.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
