Steel Stair Detailing Rates

Could anyone help me with the average cost for detailing steel stairs? i am trying to get a good system for pricing my work as a steel detailer for stairs, rails & other miscellaneous steel. Any advice is welcome.

i have been detailing stairs for about 10 years for 1 fabricator, but am beginning to do work for other fabricators & need to see what the going rate is so that i can be competitive, but still make a living.

drafting labor in change order in my area (NY) are charged at $70 an hour - if they are inhouse they are likely marking up by a factor of 3 on the hourly rate paid to the drafter.

Pricing is one of those things you have to feel out for yourself in your local market. you wont be able to get feedback online.

You'll get different advice from two neighboring shops, nevermind one guy from NYC, one from Louisiana, and a third from Manila
