steel shipping container design of residence...

ive seen this on tv, the stacking of 2 (or three) steel shipping containers for a house. anybody have experience with the engineering involved (design category d or e) and coastal wind...

a client of mine wants to do one..

Might want to do an environmental study - Only God knows what has been shipped in these containers.
 
I forgot to add that you'll find that the roof of the containers usually don't meet live load requirements (See ISO for details on load testing). When you start cutting holes in the steel container for windows, you'll have to be careful about mainatining your load path and stability (racking). It is recommended to model the steel containers as shells, and if needed reinforce the openings with angles or channels.
