Hello everyone,

In Eurocode 3 therr is a definiton for critical load:

For a multistorey building, with about 20load cases, and over 400 combinations, to check for each combination the criticcal load seems immposible.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to check critial load for the relevant combination, and not all 400.

What is confusing also is the following, marked in red:
Combinations of actions for global analysis
The determination of the value of αcr depends on design values of vertical and horizontal actions (loads) and thus depends on the relative magnitudes of these two groups of actions. This means that αcr must be determined separately for each combination of actions (notably for the different cases where wind load is the leading action and where the wind load is an accompanying action). It also means that a frame might not be sway sensitive in one combination yet sway sensitive in another.
the definition of sway or non sway affects factors for bukcling lengths which are used for resistance checks of members. Can any one from expirience explain on how this procees goes?

Thank you very much!
