I have designed some embed plates according to the (complicated) provisions of PCI Handbook Chp 6.

I hear that embed plates are OFTEN mislocated in the field.

Any idea how much I should oversize my embed plate to anticipate such a mislocation? 3" extra? 18" extra?

Thanks

Anyone's guess. I provide an extra 3" or 4" on all sides. I also keep a standard repair detail handy, when they are mis-located or omitted in the field.

Thanks jike.

For your repair detail, do you add a plate, adjacent to the misplaced embed plate, using post-installed anchors? Or something else to increase the "target" area?

Yes, I use a plate with post installed anchors.
