Hi,

I'm writing my master thesis on steel connections and working on beam to beam connection (see picture), but I need some experimental data. I can't seem to find any, anyone got some tips or any examples.
Thank you in advance.

Is that a single plate shear connection? Steel plate shop-welded to the girder and bolted to the beam? If so, do some web searches on "single plate shear connections" or "shear tabs." There are many papers on this subject.

If you're doing a thesis, why aren't you the one performing the experiment to get your data?

Like 271828 said, and that is what my supervisor want. And the test results is only to validate the ABAQUS model, such that it could represent a more complicated example.

But I do that I should have done a experiment myself, but the profesor did't think it was nescesarry. I actually wanted to try to make my own connection.

It is common to pull specimens from the literature for this purpose.

In one of my best research projects, we pulled a couple dozen specimens from the literature and tested more to fill in gaps in the data, resulting in a complete set.

That's one reason it is so important that experimental setups and results be described in detail in reports and articles.

I totally agree! If the experimental setups is non reproducible it should not be valid IMO.
