Hi, I need to design a SCC (Special Cantilevered Column) for resisting against Seismic lateral load, I couldn't find the Max. allowable deflection for it in AISC. Does anyone know this? Thanks,

Check ASCE 7 for allowable seismic horizontal sway.

My points for Cantilevered Column Systems;

- Regarding the Allowable Story Drifts , you are expected to look ASCE 7 , Table 12.12-1 Allowable Story Drift,

- For Design Coefficients and Factors for Seismic Force-Resisting Systems , pls look Table 12.2-1 G. CANTILEVERED COLUMN SYSTEMS

- The height is limited to max. 35 ft.

- The cantilever column systems must have factored axial forces less than 15% of the axial capacity of the column,( Section 12.2.5.2,)

- The foundation and other supporting elements must be designed to resist seismic loads with overstrength factor.

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure..It is: Try to please everybody.
