In the steam cracker I work for there is a Raw Gas Centrifugal Compressor with 5 stages driven by a steam turbine. Our High Pressure steam is 103 barg and 450ºC. We have an extraction to 44 bar and the exhaust steam is about 200 mbar.

I would like to read and study more to optimize this equipment but I can't find any articles or papers related. Are there any that you know? Please tell me. I have online access to all Elsevier journals.

Thanks

It is truly a complex question, Andre. Can you be a bit more specific as to what is that you want to optimise? How much steam you are planning to extract at 44bars? How much control you want to have on this extraction? Are you also thinking of extraction/ admission? Compressor parameters (powers/ speeds or flow rates/ pressures etc…)?

I am a new process engineer at the steam cracker. First of all, I want to learn more about steam turbines and compressors, that's why I want first to read papers or articles.

One of my future tasks will be the compressor optimization, but since I am in the beginning, I need to study and get into the subject deeply.

Thanks
