Hi Friend,

I am just making steam choke valve.

But I can not judge which material will be best for sealing in the choke valve also in stem seal?
Temp. above 300 Deg C .

I am not sure about viton O-ring. In some literature, Aflas ( FEPM) is best for stem application.

So anyone have idea for that?

Regards
Kamlesh

What kind of working pressures are you looking at?

Hi Friend,

The valve design pressure is 2500 PSI.

As far as packing goes, Viton Core material is a good option normally but is only reliable up to (200C)(~48Hr life at 300C), your encapsulation material FEP maxes out at about 200C as well. For above 200C you won't find much in the way of elastomers in my experience. I would look into braided packings, though installation is a little tricky. You can start by looking into Garlock Style 1303-FEP, or Style 1298. I know both are good up to 600C and 4500 psi max pressures and specifically designed for steam.

When you say "sealing in the choke" are you also wondering about bore sealing? The usual mechanism is metal-metal.
