I'm a member of the automotive group and about to build a steam powered car. Though I have drawings of the Stanley Steamer and other old style boilers of the past, my question is a generic one. Using modern technology and/or materials and assumming you had a clean sheet of paper, what type of boiler configuration would you recommend? Example; flash type, tube type or a coil type for a modern steam powered car. Obviously it has to be compact, relatively fast starting, have variable capacity (for cruising and passing power) and be as efficient as possible. Thank you for any advice you can afford me.
