I just designed a project with a Yazaki hot water absorption units using 2-30ton units.
I'm an old hand and absorption chillers were used mostly in hospitals where they had med temp steam (220F and up) all the time and sizes were from 100 tons on up which made them impractical for anything but large cooling loads with campus-style heating plants.
Cogeneration has caused manufacturers to produce small tonnage units which will operate from 150F-220F. Absorption now can be used for local small loads and absorption has lots of advantages.
