Does anyone out there know where I can find a DeviceNet EDS file for a Staubli CS8C robot controller? I need to set up the controller as a DeviceNet slave. Any info on how to do this would be helpful - thanks.

I thought I knew something of Staubli robots, but your question stopped me cold. I asked Mr. Cook at Staubli Applications Engineering and he gave the following answer:

[blue]On the CS8C we use a Applicom PCI card for the DeviceNet option. This card can function as a master, a salve, or both. As a slave it is a very flexible device that can be configured with different sizes and types of IO. The card is configured using software from Applicom, referred to as the console. Using the console you connect to the PCI card remotely using ethernet through the controller's ethernet port. you can configure the DeviceNet slave and then save the set up in a flash memory on the PCI card. When you save the configuration to flash, the console software will generate a EDS file specifically for that configuration.[/blue]

I hope this helps, it was a good educational opportunity for me.

I received a powerpoint file from Staubli yesterday describing how to get the CS8C on DeviceNet - it's working fine now.
