Hi. I was wondering what would serve for making the static analisis of a single cilinder crankshaft usin FEA. What useful results could I get? Besides, ¿can I apply FEA dinamically to the crankshaft? Assume the very most simple analisis.

Thanks a lot.

If you want to look at crankshaft durability static analysis does not make much sense, because the loads are highly dynamics. The crankshaft is definitely going to withstand static loads (unless the design was really bad).

Static FE analysis will provide useful information regarding the torsional and bending stiffness of the crank webs. A single cylinder crankshaft is *generally* very stiff, but this will depend on the amount of overlap between the pin and main journal sections.

¿Do you have any more information about what you said?
I have Ansys. Will it be useful for this analysis?
