I have been searching the net for the most widely accepted standards for showing threads on drawings but no luck. Can someone point me in the right direction where to find this type of information. I went to the ANSI site but I can not justify purchasing a subscription to answer one or two question. This and tolerancing standards on drawings are the only two things we are disputing here. Some say that actual threads should be shown in cluding the aux views and others say that the dashed line designating a threaded feature is sufficient. The other thing we are a bit confused about is what happens when you have an assembly of components that have interlocking internal and external threads. If the solid assembly has actual threads then the section view would as well.
