I am designing a high temperature custom flange vessel going to Australia from the U.S. I am accustomed to designing flanges in the ASME sec. VIII div. 1 & 2, however the Standards Australia (AS 1210) has an added Pass Partition portion of their calculations and I am not sure what they are referring to. (bp, Lp, mp) I assume they involve a type of gasket, but am not sure how to apply these terms or were they come from.

Quote from AS 1210, clause 3.21.4.2;- Where a gasket has surface additional to the calculated peripheral area (e.g. heat exchanger pass partitions), the total gasket area shall be included in Equation 3.21.6.4.1(2) or (3).
Yes, there is a similar clause in ASME VIII-1, UHX-4(c);- The design of flanges shall consider the effects of pass partition gasketing in determining the minimum required bolt loads, Wm1 and Wm2, of Appendix 2.
Nothing special,
Cheers,
