Hello,

Differenet manufcaturer of gasket seems to use different codes for the different gaskets for heat exchnager. Is there a standard ?
I know of the TEMA standard of course (ie the 3 code letters for the fornt body and rear) but when it comes to gasketing it seems a bit confusing.
Some manufacturer use a one letter code for the shape of the gasket and one additional number for the position of the gasket within the heat exchnager (front/shell or rear shell or front head, etc...). But not all manufacturer and sometimes different manufacturers codes are not matching.

May be TEMA or another association made also a standard for the gaskets similar to the one they have for the different types ?
But I can't find anything ?
Thanks for help.

In the Garlock Metalic Gaskets catalog on page D-13. There is a set of 60 different heat exchanger configurations and a two letter designation you can use for ordering the gaskets. It is not a standard but it may help you out.

Thanx StoneCold,
But from internet i can't get the catalog - it seems that there is a broken link from garlock web site to this specific catalog. May be you have a pdf of the catalog or you know where to find it on the net ?

I finally got it on the net. It is very good. thanx. we will use it as standard. But one thing is left. The numbering of the gasket on the heat exchanger. Once you have a TEMA heat exchnager and when you know the type of gasket you need to indicate teh position of the gasket. For that manufacturer use some sort of numbering - is there some standard or some reference for that also ?
