The other option I have than a theodolite for horizontal layout of a pump, discharge head and a cone valve is a tape and a level. So I decided to use the theodolite (laser shot).
I was just curious on the accuracy of the stadia method given that the rod reads to the nearest one-hundredth of a foot.
