I have one story 3d frame. Total ht is 20ft. and want to add one beam at 11 ft level tin z-z direction to brace. then in staad do i have to define Ly and Lz for column for KL/r calculation or software will consider by itself. if yes then after adding one beam in z-z direction my Ly = 20 and lz = 11 ??

Traditionally, STAAD defines a member by 2 nodes, one at each end. A physical member may be composed of one or more members. You should define your steel design parameters in terms of the physical member that you want to design instead of letting STAAD use the default values for each member.
