Hi Folks, Does anyone have specs on "edge sharpness" of fabricated sheet metal parts? SST, Cold rolled, Even looking for machine shop parts specs.
I work in the quality field. The co. I'm at has in their dwg. title block "REMOVE BURRS AND SHARP EDGES" on all drawings. Lately this is turning into a p_ssing contest concerning what is acceptible. Really would like to know how others handle this.
Thank you in advance

I would say it is a matter of common sense, not necessarily of specs. In order to make the requirement quantifiable one would need to specify a minimum acceptable radius.

There really should be a min/max edge break on you drawings. Leave the range as wide open as possible in order to make life easier for everyone. After all, a sharp square corner is burr free, but it isn't what you want.
