SS400 material for a fire warter tank according to API 650

We have a quotation for a 650 m3 fire water tank and the material is specified as SS400. will this material choice be in accordance with API 650 ??

"400" is a series of stainless steels. To the best of my knowledge, there is no "400" alloy, I think the first one is 403. I would ask exactly which 400 series steel they are planning on using.

There is JIS Structural Steel 400.

Thanks for your information cloa. i expect that it is JIS structural steel 400 we are talking about. and i expect the materials we have in our offer is made in China. Is there any things i should worry about regarding china steel qualities ?
There is some references that JIS G 3101 SS400 is equivalent to ASTM A36, but there is some comments on chemical composition that might not be according to API 650 ?
Any advice would be greatly apreciated

[li]ASTM A36 has a higher minimum yield strength (250 MPa) than SS400 range (205 - 245 MPa). In that sense I would not call them equivalent.[/li]

[li]Chinese suppliers tend to be cheaper but so many have cut corners and not met QA requirements that they have developed a bad reputation in general. Just make sure the material conforms to the JIS requirements.[/li]
