hi there all
i need a bit of advice on what could be a very broad ranging problem
i need to make some square tube 20x25 (not exactly square is it)
now i need quite a high srength as this tube will be quite highly loaded mostly along the 0 axis and as im not exactly new to composites and had a bit of experience laying up mpoulds using pre preg was wondering if this was possible
my proposal is to make a steel mould milled slot both halfs and put some form of release on it wrap up a bladder with the desired fibres and orientation pop it in the mould and expand creating a pressure internally.cure as required
q1 will this allow me to get a tight compaction on the fibres and how will i get a good ratio of fibres to resin
q2 might i be better using a filament wound tube
q3 anything anyone else can think of any pointers
i have looked at pultrusions but as this is a bit of an experiment for a home job the costs involved are a bit high
