I have recently been given the task of re-engineering a lead nut for a machine tool. The thread is a square section that doesn't seem to comform to any standard i am aware of or can find. The thread is Ø1.75" X .375" pitch, however the length of crown is not pitch/2. Any suggestions on a standard to follow?

ISO 2901, 2902, and 2003 cover metric trapezoidal screw threads. It looks like you are interested in inch-based screw threads, which would be covered by ASME/ANSI. I am not sure about the specific ASME/ANSI standards that would apply here.
