Hello everybody,

I need your advise regarding the modelling of hyperelastic materials with spring elements. It sounds strange, but I was asked to model the behavior of foam rubbers using spring elements (!!!). My first question is whether this is possible!
Using already known deviatoric material property coefficients for uniaxial tension I have constructed an F=f(deformation) expression, which can be used for building a CLD curve. My question is, how it is possible in Abaqus to model the behavior of a non-linear spring giving force-displacement data (coming from the above CLD curve). I have read in the manual , that this is possible with connectors (non-linear elasticity). I'm a new Abaqus user and I would like to ask you, how could it be possible e.g. to construct a simple cubic spring model using springs, in order to simulate after a simple uniaxial compression and compare the results with the integrated in Abaqus hyperelastic models (e.g. the Odgen model).

My best regards,
Harry

It is possible to define a nonlinear elastic behavior in a connector.
