In my country of practice, structural engineers solve piles with beam elements that are defined by lateral and vertical springs.

Aside from correctness of this method, I was wonderingg, how do you calculate the vertical spring stiffness?

bowlea just gives a table, I hope to see (maybe directly screenshot) how did you calculate and give in your reports if possible?

Why I am digging this? I have seen that people just give random numbers grom tables, however we can see that structural engineers' calculations are heavily affected by this stiffness since settlement affects moment and shear of the raft.

Thanks.
