I wanted to find out what other's experience is with selling spreadsheet programs that contain macros. I've been told that people don't trust macros, but it's difficult, if not impossible, do do certain things without them. It's hard to understand how people will buy windows-based programs that install & use executables, but they're afraid of coding in a spreadsheet. After all, I would be selling it as a program, not distributing it for free, where someone could definitely question your motives!

I have no more problem with them.. I think people are afraid that the macro can be "changed" either accidentaly or on purpose. I think you can "lock" them. That would make peole more comfortable.

spats,
I sell my spreadsheets on cheresources.com. I cover disclaimers, my copyright, and some critical calculations within the VBA.

The code is much harder to break, but I'm sure it probably can be done.

People probably don't trust macros because a number of years ago a virus used macros in some of Word's template files to spread and do damage.
