Spot welds in Abaqus

Hi all

I have two surfaces in my model to be joined together.. Now i am using a tie constraint to join those surfaces. But i would like to weld these surfaces at specific spots to make the simulation still realistic. Came across a keyword *FASTENER in Manual. Can anyone give an idea on how it works? Also is there any other way to give spot welds in abaqus.
